There are some exciting opportunities for the homeschooling community starting this spring. Beginning on Wednesday, March 24th for 6 weeks and finishing on April 28th, various classes will be offered at Allison Community Church, 1539 Salisbury Road.

ART

An Art program for home schooled students is once again being offered by Dawn Campbell.

Dawn is very happy to be asked back and is looking forward to seeing the children again and to inspire them in the love of art.

Classes will be broken into the following age groups:

1:00 – 2:00 K- grr 2

2:00 – 3:00 Gr 7 – and up

3:00 – 4:00 Gr 3 – gr 6

There is a cap on class sizes, so sign up right away!

Dawn would like all the children to come with pencil, eraser, scissors, ruler, and sketch book and art pastels in a carry case with the child’s name on everything.

CHOIR

A choir program for children in grades 3 – 6 is being offered again by Doris Sabean.

Doris enjoyed her experience with us and is pleased to be doing this for us again.

The choir class will run from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. for a minimum of six weeks with the possibility of a seventh class before the performance at the end of year celebration/graduation.

Cost will be a maximum of $4 per class and there is a minimum required registration of ten children for us to offer the choir.  Payment must be made at the beginning of the first class.  If you are interested in signing up, please email Rachael MacCabe at rmaccabe@nb.sympatico.ca.

TOASTMASTERS

A Toastmasters class will be offered by Heather Harris (Owner and President Training Wheels, Advanced Toastmaster-Gold).

The class will be open to children in grades 4 – 6 and will run from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M.

Cost will be $10 per student for the entire six week session.

The maximum number of students for this class is 9.***

Each mom will be scheduled a turn to supervise once during this session

Class preparation: “Mastering public presentation skills, like learning to ride a bike, requires practice.  Each week, course participants will be asked to prepare a short presentation incorporating new skills they have learned.  Preparing and practicing is key to successful understanding and retention of course material. Encouragement from parents to complete weekly assignments is important.“

ORIGIN OF LIFE

A class on the “Origin of Life” will be offered by Judith Forsythe and Krista Lutes.  As we explore life’s origin and design, students will gain a deeper understanding of the evidence of an Intellegent Designer and defend their Christian Worldview of Biology.

The class will be open to all students in grade 7 and up and will run from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M.

Cost will be $10 per student for the entire six week session.

Maximum number of students for this class is 10.***

Class preparation: Students will be expected to complete assignments at home (approximately one hour + worth of work at home per week)  and be prepared to give a short presentation which will be presented on week 5.

MOTHERS IN TOUCH

What a blessing it is to have the support of other praying moms.  Join us as we pray specifically for our homeschooled children and the needs of the greater homeschooling community.
Mothers in Touch will take place from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M.

BUILDING FEE

The building fee is $7.00 per family.  This will cover all co-op classes.  We ask that payment be paid for all classes and the building fee on the first day of the co-op, Wednesday, March 24^th.

All children not in class must be supervised by a parent or their designate.

Ever wonder how you could have done better on tests and want to provide tools to help your homeschooled students study effectively?

Spend an afternoon and learn memorizing tools that will last a lifetime.

It doesn’t matter what age you are or what level your memorizing capabilities are at; any person can benefit from the memorization tools offered in this lesson. Memorization tools are applicable for history dates, shopping lists, chemistry and math formulas, Bible verses, names, events, and directions.

Join Jessalyn Forsythe on Monday, March 8^th at 2:00 for approximately an hour and a half at the Christian Church of Moncton – Mountain Rd. and learn these valuable tools.

All you need to bring is a pen and scrap paper.

This opportunity is open to homeschool students in grade 6 and up and moms who want to pass on these study tips to their children!
